Hi, I’m Donna — gardener, lifelong learner, and the hands behind Blue Pumpkin Garden Care.
I grew up in rural Maine, where farming, gardening, and the rhythm of the seasons shaped everyday life. After long winters, we worked hard to make the most of spring and summer, and fall always felt like the reward for that effort. Farmers would roll their pumpkins out to the edges of their fields and line them along the roadside for the community to enjoy — a simple tradition that marked another season well done.
Back then, pumpkins were mostly orange, and seeing them perched beside old farmhouses each autumn became one of my favorite markers of home, hard work, and beauty. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong love of gardening, community, and the quiet satisfaction of having my hands in the soil.
Before I became a gardener, I spent my days helping people find meaningful work as a Career Transition and Training Coach for Larimer County. When the program was cut, I found myself at a crossroads — and realized it was time to take the very advice I had been giving to others.
Gardening had always been my happy place. On weekends, in community classes, or whenever life felt a little too loud, I found myself back in the soil. So when an opportunity came along to support homeowners and create outdoor spaces that felt personal and beautiful, something clicked. It felt like the perfect way to continue serving the people of Larimer County — just in a different way.
The name “Blue Pumpkin” came later — and immediately felt right.
It was different, meaningful, and symbolic of the kind of personalized care I wanted to bring into the community: thoughtful, personal, and a little unexpected. Blue Pumpkin Garden Care reflects my belief that gardens are as unique as the people who love them.
Today, I serve clients across Fort Collins and Northern Colorado while working toward becoming a Certified Gardener through CSU’s Green School Program. Clients appreciate my attention to detail, clear communication, and the intentional way I care for their spaces.
I’m truly grateful for this work — and I’d love to help your garden tell its story.
I offer personal garden care, all-season maintenance, flowerbed design, spring and fall clean-ups, and more.
Whether you want someone to work alongside you or someone who can take your vision and bring it to life, I care for your garden as if it were my own.
For larger projects — and during certain times of the year — I may partner with trusted helpers, but every garden is personally overseen, and cared for by me.
I care for your garden the way I care for my own — with intention, attention to detail, and practices that support healthy soil and the beneficial creatures around it. I don’t use chemicals; instead, I choose natural solutions and regionally informed methods that encourage thriving plants and create a safer outdoor environment for people and pets.
Every garden has its own rhythm and personality. I listen to what the space needs, care for it through each season, and make choices that support long-term health and natural beauty. My goal is simple: to help your garden feel well-loved, vibrant, and uniquely yours.
